Mireille was a wonderful host, with generous breakfasts and especially delicious, flavorful dishes. She knows the area inside out and has plenty of great local places to suggest. This was our second visit to Castelsec, and we loved being back in this magnificent, historic place. The sea views are gorgeous. It was a very pleasant, restorative break surrounded by nature, and we highly recommend the Castelsec estate.

We were lucky to go shopping with Mireille at the market. She picked out the finest local produce with real expertise. She’s also well-read, speaks fluent German, and happily shares fascinating stories about the region as part of her generous hospitality. The countryside around Castelsec is rolling, peaceful, and lovely, with the sea glimmering in the distance. We found our stay there truly enriching.

We spent a relaxing week at Domaine Castelsec with Mireille, enjoying evening meals and local wines while looking out over the sea in complete quiet. She’s an exemplary hostess and served us typical French breakfasts and dinners. We also made several day trips: Carcassonne, Perpignan, Narbonne’s old town and beach, and Figueres in Spain, with its Dalí Museum. Sainte-Marie de Fontfroide Abbey was interesting too, and not far away. For anyone after quiet, beautiful scenery, and a taste of French life, this is a perfect spot.

We stayed on July 9, 2022, and had a pleasant time. Mireille, the owner, is adorable, and the cottage was comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The coastal views are exceptional, and the quiet makes this an ideal place to unwind.

We had a wonderful evening on our first stop along the Cathar trails. The host was charming and dinner was excellent. The decor was superb, and be sure to look at the owner's birds. A magical place in the heart of the garrigue, and the loveliest stop of our trip. Evelyne and Jean-Pierre
