Contre Vents et Marais

Jacqueline made us feel very welcome and was incredibly kind. We had the whole cottage for a weekend with friends, and found it comfortable and clean. Thanks for having us!

We booked the gîte at the last minute for the November 11th holiday weekend and stayed two days. Our host was so friendly and welcoming. The place was quiet, very clean, and had impeccable bedding, plus parking. Thanks for a lovely stay. You can book with complete confidence.

A cancellation meant my family and I got to spend the November 11th weekend in the Marais Poitevin, and we could bring our dog too. The gîte was spacious and clean. The hosts mentioned a few small problems from the day before, but everything went smoothly. Thanks again for a great weekend. Until next time!

We found the stay decent and pretty much what we expected. The host was very welcoming, and the place had what we needed for a short break: a hob, fridge and enclosed little garden. It was fairly quiet and a bit out of the way, though there were occasional roadworks in the street. Even though this was apparently one of the biggest units, it felt quite small. The room count worked for two adults and a teenager, with two double bedrooms and one single, but the heat meant our daughter had to sleep on the downstairs sofa. The attic bedrooms got very hot, and there wasn’t a good way to air them out. Even with the fans we were lent, that made things a bit difficult. The low beams meant we had to duck a lot and still bumped our heads, as the photos show. The stairs were also quite steep, and I don’t think they’d suit older people.
