Campanile NATURE - Lille Wasquehal

You get a bed and a shower, and it's cheap. The man at the front desk was warm and really friendly.

The rooms were disgusting and dirty. The bathroom smelled like sick, and the supposedly clean towels had a foul odor, somewhere between metal and rotting meat. There was just one soap for hands and shower, no conditioner or lotion, and the personal care products felt like mystery meat. The green plastic trim looked nasty, the wooden doors and window frames were rotting and coming apart, and the beds had to be pulled out of the wall. The food was okay, though. The chicken was bland, but the fries were fine.

I was there for the first weekend in April. The room was clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The business district isn't the best spot in the Lille area, though that's not the hotel's fault. There are places to eat and a supermarket within a 10 minute walk. Having the room door open straight onto the car park was handy since I had my bike with me. At night, I could hear noise through the door, which wasn't very soundproof, and the room access card didn't always work. Still, I'd recommend it for the price.

There was plenty of parking. The booking for our two confirmed rooms confused the person at reception, and the second room hadn't been cleaned properly. Our room smelled bad and was cold because the heater wasn't working well. It's an okay place for a short stay.
