Logis _ Hotel Restaurant La Sapiniere

The reception, bar and dining room were all great, and the staff were excellent. The food was exceptional too. The room felt a bit tired, though it was clean and welcoming. The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied, and the tissue box was empty. Yeuk!

The surroundings were amazingly peaceful, with a nice mix of locals and travellers in the evening. The restaurant was great and the rooms reasonable. It's an easy place to reach from the motorway, and works well at either end of a trip through the Channel ports.

The gardens were fabulous, and the views were stunning. I had an amazing room, bright, clean and airy, with the windows open to fresh air, birdsong and flowers. Really relaxing. The food was great too. My one personal disappointment was the small aquarium by the lobby entrance, packed with sad, confined lobsters waiting for their fate. They are sentient living creatures and shouldn't be kept like that. Please take note.

We paid €240 for the double, dinner and one breakfast. The cottage double was very comfortable, with good, clean facilities, but the shower in room 12 wasn't thermostatic, so take care with children. Breakfast was overpriced at €13 for not much. The juicer didn't work, there were no staff around, and the jams were in plastic. Why? Better to stop at the services or rail terminal. The hotel is very rural, on the edge of the village, with lovely views of the rolling countryside from the restaurant. The beautiful Abbaye is a short walk away. It's convenient for Calais, close to the autoroute, and I think there are no tolls from Calais. A surprisingly pleasant stopover.
