Hotel EDEN

The beds were good, and thank goodness there was a fan, since there’s no air conditioning. One light wasn’t working, and the general cleanliness could be better, though it wasn’t bad. The floor seemed clean, which matters since they don’t provide slippers. The staff were okay. Breakfast was lacking, and the croissants were much too salty. For a 3-star hotel, that seems fair.

The room was full of bugs, and we’d never seen so many. It took us an hour to kill most of them, and my partner and I could barely sleep. On top of that, the hotel smelled like a car garage, and it hurt our noses. Our room smelled bad too, and the place was not clean at all. Before checkout time, they were already knocking and asking us to leave. Downstairs, the woman cleaning asked how we’d slept. I said badly because of the bugs, and she replied, “It’s very hot outside so it’s normal.” How is a room full of bugs normal? We regret staying here. It was a complete waste of money.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to accommodate our arrival after midnight. There’s plenty of parking too. Our room was spacious, with one large bed and two singles, plus a big TV and a nice bathroom and shower. The beds were nice. It’s suitably close to metz, about a 10-minute drive to the cathedral without traffic.

Breakfast was okay, nothing special. There’s free parking and WiFi. The rooms are small and dated, but the linen was clean. The bathroom felt cramped, and there’s no lift, so you have to carry your bags upstairs.
