Gwesty Ty Newydd

We spent an hour or two on the heated terrace late one winter afternoon, having a few drinks and playing a game. A fantastic place to while away some time, with very good local ale on tap and lovely staff. Recommended.

The room had a sea view and a massive bed. We joked that you'd need a taxi to reach the other side! Right on the seafront, it's an amazing location. We enjoyed drinks looking out to sea, the food was delicious, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

We came in for drinks at other times too and were made to feel welcome then as well. At lunchtime on Monday 29/09, our family of four adults and a dog was on holiday, and one of us uses a wheelchair. We could get inside and through to the terrace overlooking the beach. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and we all enjoyed our food and drinks. We had toasted ciabatta, lasagna and a vegetable burger. I was too full to try pudding that day. The food arrived without much of a wait, and prices were very reasonable for the view and location. I'd recommend it to family and friends and would happily go back.

The view was fantastic, but the bar meal itself was honestly pretty average. The food was okay. What let the visit down was the staff constantly chatting and laughing together around the bar. Seeing staff sitting at the bar and walking around while eating their meals didn't look very professional either. Maybe we're nitpicking, but it wasn't a good look. Location gets 10/10, staff professionalism 3/10.
