Hilton Garden Inn Aberdeen City Centre

For a short stay, this is a decent hotel in a central spot, close to shops and a short walk from the harbour. The rooms are spacious, with modern, clean toilets and an excellent shower that’s powerful and hot. Breakfast was fairly substantial, with lots of choice and endless tea and coffee. A room at the back is probably best if you want to avoid street noise. The evening meal was disappointing because the portions were very small, even though the food quality and service were good. Some staff seemed a bit undertrained when handling customer requests, so the hotel could use a little tweaking.

Union Street puts you right by the Granite City’s market, with everything you need just two minutes away, so the location is hard to beat. We seemed to get an upgrade from the room we’d originally booked, without even asking. The room was spacious and had both a shower and a bath. The hotel facilities were amazing. WiFi worked best in the main lounge, though we still had reception in our room, and there’s a small gym with all the necessary equipment for a good workout. The food was simply amazing too. An excellent hotel for anyone visiting Aberdeen, with a very reasonable room price for what’s offered.

The mushroom risotto in the restaurant was the best I’ve ever tasted. The staff were very kind, the rooms were good, and the location was central. The workout room was good too. I didn’t have breakfast here, so I can’t comment on it. The bed was a bit too firm for me, though that may not be true for everyone. I’d love to come back.

The room was nicely presented and the bed was comfortable. Dinner itself was a nice steak meal, but the evening service wasn’t very good. Even with only three other couples in the restaurant, nobody checked whether I was enjoying the meal. After I asked for the bill, the waiter took ages, so I eventually left the table to find him and pay on my way out.
