Station Hotel Aberdeen

The staff were warm and welcoming, and dinner was 10/10. The steak was expertly prepared and cooked to perfection. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with an ultra comfortable bed and a massive bath to relax in after a hearty meal.

The location was good, but that was about it. Missing grout in the bathroom tiles cut my toe as I got out of the shower, and the shower kept switching between scalding hot and freezing cold by itself. The worn Velux blind over the window popped open in the night. Broken vents had been stuffed with tissue paper to try to stop drafts, and if you're on the 4th floor, there are no directions to your room after leaving the stairwell. Seagulls kept waking me up all night, too. I wanted to tell the staff about these problems when I left in the morning, but they were busy with another angry customer who couldn't get an invoice for their stay. I tried contacting the hotel directly and got no response. Booking.com couldn't reach an agreement with the hotel either. The dispute is ongoing.

It's a nice hotel, conveniently close to Union square, and our room was clean and nice, though a little dated. But I got about 2 hrs of sleep because traffic and seagulls were so noisy. The gulls screeched all night. I checked the window in the morning and it was shut, but the wood was so warped there was a hugh gap at the bottom. If you're booking, steer clear of Room 111.

This time we had a lovely warm room at the back of the hotel, though rooms 1 to 4 have been very cold in winter on the few times I've stayed here. The staff are always friendly. We went to the restaurant for dinner with family because the menu listed loads of gluten free choices, but I was told grilled chicken was my only option. We raised our concerns with a waiter afterwards. He was very nice and apologetic, but they really need to change the menu. We'll definitely stay again, though maybe not eat at the restaurant in the evening.
