Breakfast was good, the basics were in order, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The price is low, but the rooms still feel clinical and unhomely, even by Travelodge standards. The main drawback is outside noise. At the back, a dual carriageway goes into an underpass right behind the hotel, and the sound reverberates terribly. I barely got any sleep. I might stay again if I had to, but there are plenty of cheap hotels in Aberdeen, with other chain brands just around the corner.

The staff were helpful and pleasant throughout, but the hotel itself is in very poor condition, and we wouldn’t recommend it. Our shower flooded the floor on the first morning. We reported it, and staff said they’d fix it and move us to another room. When we got back that night, the night staff hadn’t heard about the problem. The shower flooded again the next morning, and then we were moved.

I waited half an hour for food in an empty restaurant. It seemed edible when it arrived, but six hours later, around midnight, I was stuck running to the toilet with stomach cramps and the rest of what you’d expect. The hygiene was atrocious. Never going back.

There’s no parking at the hotel, but you can use other city car parks. We used park and ride, and the hotel worked well for public transport, just a short walk from the bus and train station. It’s a perfect base for a city break. The building could use some TLC, but it was clean and comfortable, just right for what we needed. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is very reasonably priced. Scrambled egg is the only egg option, which didn’t bother me, though I know others would want a choice. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
