Three Horseshoes Inn

We had roast Sunday lunch, with several meats to choose from and fish and chips for anyone who didn't want a roast. There was a nice selection of desserts too. This was our second try at having Christmas lunch, after the first booking was cancelled because of ill health. The historic timber-beamed building is a pleasure, and the pub now serves a farming community that used to be here. It’s a lively place with a warm welcome, good food, drink, and accommodation. There are spots to sit quietly and relax, as well as areas to watch sport.

The timbered restaurant was clean and comfortable, and the service was quick and friendly. I had the rich, hearty French Onion soup for lunch, and my son said his burger was the best he'd ever had. We stopped in midweek and would come back next time we're nearby.

Disappointing meal. Our main course was put down while we were still eating our starter. We were told it was better on the table than sitting in the kitchen getting cold. The food was average, the table top was worn, and there were very few vegan choices. There were no starters, veggie curry, or Caesar salad available for a main. Probably fine for bar meals if you eat meat.

We went as a team of four to support a local charity I help run, at the pub’s charity quiz night. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we had a great night, finishing third, with the buffet provided. The pub has a log fire and a lovely village feel. It sells Wye Valley Brewery ales and Weston's cider, and uses other local suppliers for food and drink. We promised to come back for another quiz and support a different local charity. We came second at the next quiz!
