Breakfast isn’t included, but the local 'Spoons is just a five-minute walk away, and there are lots of cafes nearby too. It’s in a nice spot near the seafront and town centre, and Emily the housekeeper is lovely. Fairly basic, but clean, comfortable, affordable and everything works well. Tea and coffee facilities are provided and replenished if you ask. Fine for a short stay.

I booked a few weeks ahead for myself and two children so we could visit my daughter at university. Carol contacted me the next day to say the room we’d booked was no longer available and they had to move us. She said we’d have access to a kitchen and so on, so I thought these things happen and appreciated being told. On the day, I called several times before I reached Carol, who then told me we’d been moved again. She hadn’t let me know. We were taken to a house across the street. The room had one double bed and a sink, with no toilet or anything else, and the shared toilet was filthy. They offered to bring in an extra bed, which they did. But when I arrived to spend the night with my children, keys had been left in the door so anyone could get in while our things were inside. The bed linen was disgusting: a huge period stain on the duvet and limp, sweat-ridden pillows. The room was cheap, but basic cleanliness is essential, and the mess around us was completely unacceptable. I was left with no choice but to stay in the grot with two kids. It was the worst night's sleep, and we left very early to go home. What should have been a nice experience turned awful and dirty. I hope this review makes people wary when booking, as B&Bs may not be what they seem, and you may not end up in the place you were expecting. I hope the hotel reads this and contacts me about a refund.

The room was basic, but that was all we needed since we spent more time out than sleeping. It was easy to book, the guy running the place was very friendly, and the location was great with everything close by. We stayed two nights and I’d happily book again if I were back in the area. Would highly recommend.

I stayed in Ystwyth house across the road. It’s a lovely little business with a homely feel. The owner met me and we had a chat, and I woke up to the sound of the ocean.
