The Four Seasons Hotel

The location was perfect and breakfast was lovely, but the room cleaning needs work. The shower fittings were unpolished, the drain wasn’t attached, and there was shampoo left underneath from the previous guest, along with old black mould. The bathroom door didn’t lock. Someone from room 39 came into our room because we hadn’t locked it. Their key wasn’t clearly marked and looked like ours, 37. Before we’d checked out, staff had already entered to clean, even though it wasn’t checkout time and we still had the key. We’d put our bags in the car before breakfast but planned to return so my son could shower. Staff should check that the key has been handed in before going into a room.

Staying here on Christmas Eve has become our tradition. We drive up, then meet family for a walk on the beach on Christmas morning. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, and our dog gets lots of fuss, which he loves. There’s a great buffet breakfast and the service is great too. Merry Christmas 🤶

The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, but the room was basic and the shower took ages to get even warm. Breakfast is mainly full English, with few healthier alternatives. Our dog-friendly room was a long way from an exit for toilet trips, up and down stairs that were hard work for both my small dog and me as an older person. Parking was very limited, and there was nothing available on nearby streets. On two of my three nights there were no restaurant meals for guests because of “functions”. I hadn’t been told, despite specifically asking to be booked for dinner each night. As a solo traveller with a dog, I found that disappointing. Despite the central location, I wouldn’t book this hotel again.

We loved our stay. The promenade was just a short walk around the corner, but finding street parking was a struggle since spaces in their lot are first come, first served. Apart from that, everything was perfectly fine.
