The Railway

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t judge it by that. The rooms are gorgeous, warm and clean, with a perfect size for two. The bar has a good range of beers and ale, and the staff are really friendly. I skipped breakfast, but my wife said it was excellent. The chef made me a bacon butty to take away. Highly recommend, and we’ll be back.

My partner and I both had a great stay. The food was good, the staff made us feel welcome, and it’s close to both town and the train station. We’d definitely stay again.

The friendly service made the visit easy, even though I was being socially awkward. They give you free mayo, and the salad was fine. As for the burger, the portion was generous and I left full, but the meat was so dry it was hard to chew. The vegetables were cut oddly, kept falling off and were awkward to fit in my mouth. It’s an OK place to eat.

A lovely spot to sit and watch for the next train, and very dog friendly too. The pub is a short walk from the railway station and has loads of railway memorabilia, which gives it a fun, quaint feel. Staff were really friendly, the place was spotless, and they poured a great pint. It’s a handy first stop if you arrive by train and fancy a warm up drink before heading around Skipton. The area nearby has been beautifully restored, with canal walks and a pedestrian bridge into town close by.
