Ty Belgrave House

The hotel cancelled our booking a few days before we were due to arrive, even though we’d booked months in advance. It also looked a bit scruffy inside. There are better alternatives elsewhere.

The room was a little small, but it had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast room was also small, so we had to shuffle around other families to fit everyone in. The staff were nice, especially the woman serving breakfast. I called to ask about checking in early over Christmas 2017, and the man I spoke to was very helpful and accommodating. It cost an extra tenner. I thought it was a good place to stay and would come back.

I stayed here for a few weeks while working in the area and was very happy with the place. It’s clean and tidy, with seafront views. Getting to the apartments means using a narrow spiral staircase, so it may not suit anyone who struggles with stairs. If that’s not an issue for you, it’s a fine place to stay.

The rooms are huge, and the place is really cosy. It made us feel like royalty, and the only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer. One odd thing was having to collect the key from another building. I’m not sure if that was because we arrived late or if that’s where reception is, since the main building only has rooms and no reception.
