I haven't stayed in the rooms, so can't speak to those. I recently ate here on the way back from the North to Reading and the food was outstanding. The pub is fairly no-frills, though it does have an open fire, and the beer was good. The Abbey is just across the road and worth a visit.

During our tour of England we stayed somewhere different every night, and learned that booking inns, hotels or B&Bs from a distance can be hit or miss. The Fleur de Lys was definitely a hit. It's a charming little inn in a small village, with modern rooms that still have a touch of English countryside character. The bed was super comfortable, a rarity on our trip, and the young man who hosted us was wonderfully hospitable. We stayed one night, and it was well worth the price.

We have a toddler, and the pub has a high chair with a five-point harness. There's no dedicated baby changing facility, but we used our mat in the ladies' and had plenty of room. There are two or three steps at the entrance, though a buggy fits easily in the bar area. Dogs are welcome too. We've eaten at the Fleur a few times since the new head chef took over, and the food has been delicious each time. The burger is especially good, with a generous portion and a well-made, high-quality meat patty. The sticky toffee pudding is worth trying as well. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the bar is nicely done, with a fun atmosphere, board games, fireside seats and bar seating. We're lucky to have such a nice pub nearby. I'd recommend stopping in if you're in Dorchester.

My wife, daughter and I haven't had a better Sunday lunch in many years. The portions were huge, everything was well cooked, and the atmosphere was lovely. Thank you.

The room and bathroom were comfortable for the night, and the bar had a reasonable beer selection. But there was a lock-in until about 00:30, and the noise carried into our room. Food choices were limited, and there was no breakfast unless it was brought in from down the road. Their setup around food was confusing too: they serve food but also allow customers to bring in or order pizzas. It was okay and has a more rustic feel, but the George and White Hart are much better for food overall. Still worth a try.
