Kilchoan House Hotel

For nearly £200 a night, the room felt more like a hostel, though at least the shower was decent. It was tired and out of date, and didn’t match the price. The staff were fine, but the hotel needs major investment. Maybe it’s reasonably full because there’s so little choice.

We brought our dog, and the grounds were fantastic. Our room was spacious and clean, the food was excellent at both dinner and breakfast, and the staff made us feel welcome from the start. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it.

The food was excellent, and there’s a good choice of drinks. Staff and locals were friendly and accommodating, and made us feel at home. They also helped us through a few travel problems we had in the rain. It’s very dog friendly, and I’d highly recommend the place.

We’ve spent the last two weeks travelling around Scotland, and this is easily our favourite place. The people are lovely, the pub is a lot of fun, and the locals are the best. Our room was comfortable for our family of four, with two adults, a teenager, and a tween. We wish we’d skipped Raasay/Skye and spent longer here. Breakfast service was amazing, and all the staff were great. Do stay. One disappointment was the Friday box meals. Three of us ordered spring roll meals, and all the rolls were still frozen inside. They weren’t like the spring rolls we Americans usually expect, with chopped vegetables. These had mushy, almost mashed vegetables inside. I ate the ends of one and left the other untouched. The barman apologized and said he’d tell the kitchen, but I think we were still charged full price. I’m not sure, since it went on our room and we didn’t see a bill.
