It’s been a few years since our last stay, but the people and service are still amazing. There’s a great range of places to eat, an outstanding SPA, and loads to do nearby, even in winter.

Had a lovely afternoon at Carrick Spa. Great facilities and service, and a really good day.
I was pretty disappointed by Cameron Lodges. Getting there involves going miles from the main hotel complex, which the website didn’t make clear, and the views are much less impressive. Our lodge was spacious but didn’t feel very luxe. It backed onto a pond and some rather sad-looking cut-down trees. Being able to walk to the spa and bar was the one thing that kept this from being a one-star stay. The bed was unbelievably uncomfortable, with springs poking through, and I can’t believe that for what we paid. The main shower was poor too. The kitchen is large and fairly modern, but the cooking pots are awful and not suitable for people who actually cook. The furniture could use a more consistent, modern look. It costs too much for what you get. A little haiku for it: So far from the hotel, Springs poke through the luxury bed, Promises fall short.
My daughter had stayed here before and told me how good it was, but it still exceeded what I expected. I booked a couple of nights with my two kids and their partners as a surprise break for my wife's 60th birthday. It wasn’t the cheapest trip I’ve taken, and because of the price I won’t be rushing back, but if you can afford it and have a special occasion, I’d highly recommend it. 😊
The scenery is spectacular, with the lodges tucked into lovely grounds, and we enjoyed our holiday, making good use of the on-site facilities. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The lodges are well equipped and fairly comfortable, while the facilities are good but need to be booked ahead. Booking by email can take a while to get a reply, so it takes some planning. We ate at three venues on site, all good quality with friendly service, and the 20% discount was a nice bonus. There’s no convenience store for basics like milk, bread, tea or coffee. The welcome pack helps, but doesn’t include things like salt and pepper, which we really missed.
