Wensum Lodge Hotel

I could hear rats scratching and chewing in the walls all night, which kept me awake. I saw one running across the floor and pulling at the carpets. In the morning, there was a rat on my pillow with food in its mouth, and another waiting at the foot of the bed. The food was cold and minging. There were rat droppings in the shower; they got stuck to my feet, and I became very ill. Please shut this place down, it's not safe.

The apartment was clean, comfortable and nice, and my parents really enjoyed the breakfast. They stayed for a weekend and were well looked after by the wonderful staff, from check-in right through to checking out. They couldn't do enough for them. Thank you so much to Jason and his team for making them feel so welcome.

The staff were extremely accommodating. They set up a breakfast table for us in the bar each morning so our dogs could join us. Breakfast was excellent each day, and the stay was good for the price we paid. The bed was really comfortable too.

The hotel is in a lovely little area, just a short walk from a wonderful riverside path. We hadn't seen nature so active in a long time. We were staying for Thursford, which was well recommended and only about ten minutes from the show. My mum needed gluten-accommodating and dairy-free choices, and the staff went out of their way to arrange them. They even gave her access to special milk for her tea and coffee. Breakfast was well cooked, firm and flavourful, not greasy or overdone, with a lovely choice of juice, cereal, yogurt and toast. Our room was brilliant, with a soft bed and powerful shower. It didn't feel cramped, and came with a TV, hairdryer, tea and coffee.
