The hot tub was just right after a full day, and a short walk from the house takes you onto the lovely National Trust path at Thompson's Rigg. We had a brilliant week at Thompson Rigg House. It was spotless and had everything we needed, while Alan and Helen were friendly and ready to help with anything. Getting there was part of the fun: the final 10 miles go through Dalby forest drive, followed by about a mile and a half on a stone track. There's a shallow ford about 100m from the house. Quite an adventure, and it added to the holiday. Fantastic place to stay. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

The children spent ages playing in the big garden and woodland bank, and meeting the four donkeys and sheep was a highlight. Feeding them fruit from the orchard made the stay feel especially charming. We came as a family for a week in August and had a wonderful holiday at Thompson Rigg House. It's a peaceful, secluded spot on the edge of the North York Moors, with lovely views and a chance to get away from traffic and crowds. Even so, getting out for the day was easy: Dalby Forest is 10 minutes away, Scarborough about 30 minutes, and Whitby and Goathland around 40-50 minutes. Helen and Allan gave us great suggestions for local places to visit. The barn conversion is stunning, with lovely decor and clear care in the details. The beds were very comfortable and everything we needed was there. The hot tub was easy to use and a big hit with the whole family. Helen and Allan welcomed us warmly and were friendly and helpful throughout. We stayed in the large 3-bedroom house, though there are two other holiday lets too. I can't recommend Thompson Rigg enough. It was a special week, and we'll definitely be back!
