The Lochside Hostel

The people are what made Lochside so hard to leave. Dylan greeted everyone with a smile and was always ready to help, and the volunteers gradually became friends. We shared meals and spent our days together, with poetry night, the Ceilidh, bonfires, hikes, music, pool and game nights. That sense of everyone helping and connecting felt completely new to me. I’d find myself sitting there, smiling and thinking how beautiful a place can be. I’m so grateful I got to experience it, and I want to thank everyone who made it one of the best times of my life. See you soon, much love. ❤️ The hostel itself is lovely too. It’s tucked into nature, peaceful and calm, with a great base for kayaking, hiking, beach time or even a swim if you’re brave enough. The facilities were spotless, the kitchen had everything I needed, the beds were comfy, and both the rooms and common area felt inviting. You may end up offline a lot, even though there is signal, simply because there’s so much else to enjoy. Taking things slowly made the days feel three times as long, in the best way. We stayed one night between Stirling and Skye. The lake views are amazing, and you can swim straight in it. There’s everything you need for a peaceful evening. Just remember, it’s a backpackers hostel, so don’t expect the comforts of a private hostel room. Big thanks to Sebastian for the welcome!

You can sit by the huge windows in the common room and watch the lake, with a wood burner, pool table, games and other entertainment there too. The location is beautiful and quiet, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms have cute paintings, the beds are comfy, and the showers have great pressure. And the kitchen is the best I’ve ever seen in a hostel, just check out that spice rack. I’d give it six stars if I could.

I felt safer and more comfortable here than at any hostel I’ve stayed in. The people are kind, funny and welcoming, which really makes the experience. And it has the best hostel kitchen I’ve ever seen. I can’t recommend the place enough!
