Nell Gwynn House Apartments

I’ve been staying at Nell Gwynn house apartments since 2013, probably about eight times. The bathrooms and layouts vary a lot, and some bathrooms are ridiculously tiny. Some units are decent, but it’s very hit or miss. There’s no Air Condition, so summer stays are at your own peril. The staff at NGH apartments are fantastic. It’s a shame they still don’t have the book-yourself computer system they promise on their site every year. Make sure you go through NGH apartment management. Several rental agencies work on the first floor, and Nell Gwynn Chelsea Accomodations are horrible. They’re the ones people complain about, including the woman Michelle. I used them once for apartment 746. They were extremely rude when I emailed questions, ignored some outright and gave short, incomplete answers to others. They also ignored my request for a floor plan. Their apartments don’t even have a Landline, so it’s hard to call the rental office. You’ve been warned.

The place itself was beautiful and the apartment was nice, but the staff were awful. They still manage things manually on paper and don’t communicate about specific events or situations. When we arrived, our booked room wasn’t ready. They moved us into a worse one and said they’d sort things out the next day, but nobody helped or apologized. Two people at reception were very rude. One was piotr, and the other stared at us like he was ready to fight. They seemed not to want to work, scrolling on their phones while talking. After an hour of pointless discussion, we finally got the room we had specifically booked. We were never offered any compensation for the first night in a room we hadn’t chosen. We had to move our luggage three times by ourselves, with no offer of help. They use different companies to manage the place and don’t communicate, then use the way they work, like it’s still 1970, to excuse their lack of competence. It’s crazy that such a lovely place can be managed so badly.

I tried not to write this, but the porter GREG, an elderly man with white hair, was extremely rude and racist. He repeatedly treated non-white people rudely and impatiently. He acted as if residents who paid a lot to live here were his servants or owed him money. He’s a disgrace and should be fired for the sake of the apartment’s future. God knows where his self-pride comes from. He’s worthless.

The rooms and hotel have a nice vintage look, and the staff are friendly, though they do only the bare minimum. A few of our things disappeared from the room. The microwave/oven didn’t work, and you can hear the metro even from the ninth floor.
