South View House

The garden and middle floor flats are spacious and luxurious, with lovely views over the river and out to sea. Every bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and the modern kitchen is very well equipped for self catering to a high standard.

The beds were extremely low, Japanese style, and nobody had warned us, which wasn't suitable for elderly people. One shower flooded the entire bathroom floor, so we couldn't use it. The main oven was broken and still wasn't working after I complained and nine days had passed. We couldn't use the private parking because the garage doors were broken. There weren't enough cleaning cloths or tea towels, and the information guide was poor. With so many problems, the place felt overpriced and I wouldn't return.

From the penthouse balcony we could see the harbour on one side, the estuary ahead and the sea on the other. The apartment had views in every direction, and the first impression when we came in was already breathtaking. Everything was finished to a very high standard, from the Bose speakers throughout and huge TV to the touchscreen controls for lights, blinds and windows. It was well furnished, with a well equipped kitchen, and the location made it easy to explore Bamburgh, Beadnell Bay, Holy Island and the surrounding area. We had a fantastic weekend.

The balcony and view are spectacular, but the penthouse is awkwardly designed. There are head hazards, the sinks are awful, and the kitchen is so poorly equipped that day to day living becomes a pain.
