Our holiday was ruined. We paid over £2000 for what was our only family break of the year, and honestly, without the kids being excited about it, we'd have gone straight back home when we arrived. We stayed for a week in August. The house felt dated and dirty, with lots of broken fixtures and fittings patched up with gaffer tape. Out back, the garden was blocked off and full of old vans, and the locked back door was a serious safety concern. The outside space was overgrown and uncared for, with several lights broken or taped together. The handrails wobbled, which worried a family member who isn't very steady on their feet. The oven door wouldn't shut properly, so the knobs melted and burnt my daughter's fingers when she touched them. For an average family, over £2000 is a lot to pay. I'd tell anyone thinking about Alnwick to find somewhere else.

Both groups were very happy with the stay. One called it a lovely home, especially suited to a large group, with lots of space and a kitchen well equipped with utensils. They said they'd stay again and found the locals sociable and ready with advice. Another group of ten said the accommodation had all the facilities they needed and praised the area and location. They highly recommended it.

We were a group of ten with a child, and the property still felt very spacious. The garden and decking were lovely, and Alnwick was only a ten minute walk away. Great location.
