The Sunday roast was huge, with fresh vegetables and plenty of everything else. Really nice, and I'd definitely recommend it. Book ahead for Sunday lunch or early dinner when it's a busy time. I was staying at the caravan park site round the corner, which is a great site too.

This is just a review of the food. We've had evening bar meals here several times before, always simple but beautifully prepared. On our visit at the end of September 2025, things weren't up to that usual standard. The chips were limp and greasy, and hadn't been drained properly; the pizza was burnt. The veggie burger was listed with "lettuce and mayo," but came in a cold, dry bun with a Quorn burger and no lettuce or mayo. Maybe the chef had the night off.

A lovely surprise. The baguette was packed with meat and excellent value, and the kipper pate was excellent too. Service was fast and efficient, and dogs are allowed.

After walking from Craster to dunstanburgh Castle yesterday, we were glad we persevered with finding the car park, which was tricky to locate. We got a warm, lovely welcome, and the waitress brought a fresh bowl of water for our dog. The waitress and bar staff were super friendly. The portions were massive, prices good, and it was a great find. Thanks!

Breakfast has loads of choice and is excellent, and the evening meals are excellent too. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, and the staff really make the stay even more enjoyable. Lovely owners and a great price. We'll certainly be back. Thanks again, and I hope to see you soon. Simon & Helen, Room 6.
