Being welcomed with open arms along with my furry friend was the best part. I was sent off full after a hearty cooked breakfast, and the food was lovely. The service was great, and nothing felt like too much trouble. My room was clean and warm, and after a long day hiking, that boiling hot bath was very much appreciated. I had a brilliant stay.

The steak and ale pie and the onion and cheese bread and butter pudding were both delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive, too. We came for dinner at this popular place, so I’d suggest booking ahead. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

We had a good choice of real ales to go with the extensive dinner menu, and it was all very good value. Our group of 8 stayed for 4 nights, slept comfortably and enjoyed excellent breakfasts. A great place to stay.

We had meals here twice with the family between Xmas and New Year 2025/26. It’s a friendly pub with good food and drink options, and the staff were keen to help. Highly recommend it for the service and location!
