We’re nearing the end of our four nights here. Patrick and Lena are fun, friendly hosts, and the breakfasts are tasty. The room’s clean and tidy, with heating, tea making facilities, a microwave and fridge. There’s a hot shower and off road parking too. We’d recommend it whether you’re passing through for a day or staying longer.

Breakfast was only toast between 9 and 9.30am, even though the website said full and continental options were available, so I went to the cafe down the road. There was only one cup and one towel in the double room. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the old duvet cover smelled musty. The shared bathroom had just a dirty bar of soap for washing hands. When friends asked about a hairdryer, the owner said, “I haven’t got hair.” I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it.

The room was very clean and comfortable, but breakfast wasn’t as substantial as the website suggested. I don’t like beans or mushrooms, so I ended up with one sausage, bacon and an egg. I’d also like real butter on the table instead of just spreads. At £69 a night, it didn’t feel like great value.

I’ve stayed at Yew Tree House more than 40 times, and Patrick and his wife Lena have always made me feel very welcome. It’s a nice, quiet B&B at a good price.

We booked the family room at Yew Tree the other week for an overnight stay, and it was fabulous. Comfortable, well located, with a nice pub nearby and an excellent breakfast. I’m in the area again next week, so I’ve already booked another stay.
