The Anchor Inn

Dinner at the restaurant was really nice, and breakfast had a good selection and was well cooked. The next morning a wedding was being held, so preparations made the service a bit slow, but the food was still delicious. The local area is picturesque, and the garden looks lovely for warmer evenings. We felt welcome at this lovely pub and check-in was quick. Our room was a good size and comfortable, with a huge en suite, a great shower, and a large, comfortable bed. It was cosy, but the lighting wasn't great for doing my hair or makeup, and the bedroom mirror was too high to use while seated at the dressing table. A tray for tea and coffee would've been helpful, as I was worried about marking the furniture.

The rooms were clean, cosy and comfortable, and we had a great stay. We came to Alton for a wedding at Froyle Park, which is only a three-minute drive from The Anchor Inn. Getting a taxi on Saturday was difficult, something to keep in mind in this area, but Kevin, the owner, kindly drove us to the venue himself. We really appreciated him going out of his way. We arrived Friday evening for dinner, and the food was excellent. The staff were so helpful and accommodating with our large group. Thanks to Kevin, his wife and the whole team. We'd definitely return to explore more of the town.

Our private room made my birthday lunch for 13 feel relaxed and personal. It was spacious and comfortable, just right for a special get-together. The team made the afternoon memorable, with warm, attentive service that never felt like a struggle despite our group size. The food was incredible, beautifully cooked and full of flavour, as it always is here. It was flawless from start to finish, and everyone left saying we should do it again. Huge thanks to the team. We'll be back soon.

We came here for an event and had a lovely time. The food was incredible, and they accommodated the gluten free requests nicely. Service was welcoming and pleasant. The pub is well equipped and spacious, with quaint but comfortable rooms upstairs. The whole place has a rustic country feel, while the food is modern and vibrant. I'd highly recommend it for events, and it seems like a lovely spot for lunch any day of the week.
