1869 - Room Only Boutique Townhouse

We managed the whole trip by public transport, and staying right in the town centre made that easy. Ambleside is also well placed for lots of hiking routes. The room was clean and pleasant, with a comfortable bed, good shower pressure and toiletries. Check-in was straightforward with clear instructions, and we could leave our bags both before check-in and after check-out, which was very handy. One small suggestion: the usual “light duvet” was still too warm in the soaring temperatures, even with the window open. A sheet or lighter duvet would be better. I’d highly recommend it.

The central Ambleside location is fantastic, with a nice pub opposite, and the parking pass is a real help when parking in town can be a nightmare. Arriving was easy too: our key and pass were waiting, so there was no need to speak to anyone, which introverts might appreciate. We’d enjoyed a previous stay, so this time we booked a superior room. It had a very nice view over Ambleside, but the toilet was separate and meant going out to the main corridor to use the bathroom. The listing does mention this, though it was a little inconvenient. The single-glazed windows made the room a bit cold in the morning and let in quite a lot of noise. I’d still recommend staying here, but probably wouldn’t choose the superior room unless you really need the extra space. The regular rooms are lovely and worth the cost.

We were in room 4 on the second floor, with a nice view across Ambleside’s rooftops. The bed was very comfy, and the service and location were great. They’re very dog friendly.

Everything was clean and cozy, with plenty of charming features. We liked the comfortable room and its view over Ambleside’s streets. Some traffic noise came through the single-glazed windows, though it didn’t bother us. The bathroom was separate from the room, which was a slightly unusual setup. We knew about it before arriving, and it didn’t affect our stay.
