The staff were amazing, the food really good, and the gardens and access to the Lakes are unbeatable. I was there for a conference, and the facilities had everything we needed, with plenty of space and lots of character. The rooms were fairly basic but clean and comfortable. WiFi and mobile signal both worked well. It’s a lovely retreat centre in a gorgeous setting, and public transport makes it accessible.

The rooms feel like shabby hostel rooms, with paper-thin walls and barely basic amenities. Service is poor, while premium prices are charged at every opportunity. It might be tolerable if you were supporting a mission, but this place is just a commercial outfit exploiting charges. If you’re visiting the Lake District, stay here if you want to pay a lot for a less-than-mediocre hostel room. For the same price, you can find a plush, pleasant alternative with better service.

The chapel is lovely, and the accommodation was well priced. Staff were helpful, the bedroom was very comfortable, and the food at tea and breakfast was very good.

The building and grounds are amazing, and the staff are friendly and approachable. At this price, though, the accommodation is quite frugal. Check their website before booking online to make sure it matches what you expect.

It was so peaceful and relaxing in our room, which had the best view over the gardens. We were sorry to leave and will be back. Rydal hall has fantastic gardens, and the dinner and breakfast both come with a lovely view over the park. You can spend a cosy evening at the bar playing board games. We had a fantastic stay and can’t recommend it enough!
