Steve was a friendly, helpful host, and the breakfasts were good. The room was clean, well equipped, and looked out over a beautifully kept garden that guests could use, including a summer house for relaxing. There’s parking on site, and the village centre is just a few minutes away on foot. It was my first time at School House Cottage, though I’ve been to Hawkshead before. I’d highly recommend it.

The bed was so comfortable that we slept really well both nights, and it was lovely looking up through the glass roof in the evening. The hot tub needed about two hours to warm up, but held a great temperature after that. Honey Bee Hut was spotless and had everything we needed. The hosts also gave us clear parking and entry details beforehand. We’ll definitely return for another relaxing break.

We loved coming back from walks in some truly awful weather to find Sharon and Steve ready to make us a cup of tea. They made us feel very welcome throughout our four nights at School House Cottage. The room was small but cosy and had everything we needed, and breakfast offered an excellent range of choices. Sharon’s cakes were superb too. We’re curious to see whether the Shepherd's Cabin gets going next year. Kind regards, Martin & Karin.

Hawkshead is an ideal base, and this place is really well situated. Steve and Sharon are lovely hosts who go out of their way to make guests comfortable. Steve’s a wonderful cook, both at breakfast and with the evening meals he provided. We’d recommend staying here.

This time we brought my sister, Muriel, along. It was her first stay and she enjoyed it. We’ve lost count of how many visits we’ve made ourselves, and Steve and Sharon remain great hosts. The food is lovely, the bedrooms are clean and comfortable, and the garden is a lovely place to sit. Why go anywhere else? Ray, Julie & Muriel, Tyneside.
