Lochgair Hotel

I didn’t try the breakfast, though it was included, because I had to leave early. They gave me a packed meal instead, and it was delicious. The place is basic, but that adds to its charm. It was very clean and comfortable, and I enjoyed walking down to the beautiful Loch after my one night there. If I’m ever back this way, I’d stay again.

The staff were amazing, especially the young girl who seemed to be doing everything. I had dinner and breakfast, and both meals were lovely. My only criticism is the room price: converted to my home currency, it would be $200.00. For $200 a night, I’d get a 4 star room, just saying.

The food was excellent and high quality. I had the steak pie twice, and the owner made a great breakfast and fresh coffee. He even gave me a coffee to take away when I was running late. He was helpful and nice to talk to, and if you like cars, ask him about his collection. Jay served me each evening and was attentive, cheerful, and a real credit to the industry. He kept everything immaculate and even made brilliant packed lunches for my next day after I’d had a good amount to drink that evening. There’s a lovely bar with a fire and a good selection of Malts. My room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed. The hotel is fantastic, and it deserves better reviews from people who aren’t so fussy. I hardly ever write reviews because I’m usually fairly neutral about places, but I left happy and wanted to support this smaller family owned place.

Thanks for a lovely time. The young lady provided great service with a smile, and the chef gets 10/10. Breakfast and dinner were both great.
