We enjoyed walking straight from the door along the canal in either direction, as well as taking the forest tracks behind the cottage. In June, there were loads of wildflowers and birdsong. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and the owner kept in touch both before and during our stay. A tall grassy bank sits between the cottage and the canal, so you don’t get a direct canal view, but that didn’t spoil the location for us.

The cottage is about halfway along the canal, which worked well for covering it over two days. Our bikes stayed dry and secure in the cottage’s own bike shed. It’s self-catering, and the owner was very helpful, advising us on places to visit and how to travel through the aftermath of the floods. She also sent several messages to check that we were all right. Excellent service and location.

Pauline was attentive and easy to approach, keeping in touch with helpful ideas for places to go, eat, and enjoy. The cottage was spotless and well maintained, with everything we needed close at hand. We had a very comfortable, enjoyable stay in number 4. We love the area, and it was a great base both for revisiting places we know and finding new ones. Highly recommended, and we’ll be back.

The large bike shed came in very handy, and there are great woodland trails just a mile away. Pauline had lots of tips on things to do and places to see. The Venture West boat trip was a highlight, with sightings of Golden Eagles and Minke whales. The cottage is beautiful and in a stunning spot, just right for my son and me as keen mountain bikers. We can’t wait to return.

Pauline was friendly and helpful with suggestions. We had a fantastic stay at Crinan Cottage, a good size for our family of four. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved using the wood-burning stove in the evenings. The children were delighted by the strong wifi. There’s lots to do nearby if you have a car, and we’d definitely come again.
