The food was superb, especially the fish and chips, and breakfast was great in the restaurant overlooking the Crinan Basin. After full days of walking, our room was just what we needed: warm, exceptionally comfortable, with a lovely big bed and a great shower. The staff were friendly and lovely. We stayed three nights in mid-February, and I can’t wait to return. Be sure to visit the art gallery on the third floor at Lock 16, if only for the balcony views.

We came to The Crinan Hotel with family to celebrate my Dad’s life after he passed away last year. The team couldn’t have been kinder or more accommodating, including making arrangements for our dog. It’s a family-run hotel with incredible views and great food, and the staff are what make it especially special. Thank you to everyone.

The hotel is handy for the beaver trail, Crinan canal, and Kilmartin historical sites. There’s plenty of parking out front, though no EV charging here or anywhere in Crinan. The nearest charger is in Lochgilphead. Our room was clean and spacious, with great views, and both the food and service were excellent.

We stayed four nights at the end of September and chose Crinan Hotel for a very special reason: we wanted to elope and marry there, just the two of us. Frances, the owner, and Jamie, the assistant manager, helped make it happen. Niamh, one of the lovely hotel staff, agreed to witness our ceremony. The whole team made us feel special and nothing was too much trouble. They set up the room where we chose to hold the ceremony, and Frances made and gifted us a beautiful bouquet, buttonhole, and table flowers. We had the Morrocco room, with four big windows looking straight out over the Loch towards Duntrune Castle. The view kept changing and was fantastic to wake up to. Frances and the staff were wonderful, and the food was amazing: langoustines fresh from the loch, plus other dishes made with lovely local ingredients, cooked and presented beautifully. Breakfast was exceptional too. We even ordered some of the same pillows because they were so comfortable. It’s an old country house hotel with fabulous food, a great base for exploring, and an amazing team and views. We’ll definitely come back when time allows.

We ate here twice while staying nearby. The Cullen skink was amazing, and the langoustine cocktail was good too, though it wasn’t cheap. The chips were wonderfully fluffy.
