Foxghyll Country House B&B

To Paul & Rachel, The house is full of character, beautiful and steeped in history. We loved the incredible breakfasts, and the brain puzzles were maddeningly addictive. Roy and Peggy deserve a special mention for the cuddles and cuteness! Thanks again for such a lovely stay. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty to choose from, from porridge to a full English, all made to order, plus cereals, fruit and juice at the buffet. Rachel and Paul, along with their lovely new family addition Amelia, are the friendliest hosts. This was our second visit to Foxghyll Country House, and it prompted me to finally write a rare review. The house sits quietly below Loughrigg Fell, in a perfect spot. It’s only a few enjoyable minutes through the park to Ambleside’s many eateries, pubs and shops. From the garden, you can head straight onto hill paths that branch off in every direction, with stunning views. We’ll be back and highly recommend it.

Even with the rain, staying here felt like bliss. We loved warming up with a glass of red by the fire. The house is immaculate and full of character, and Paul and Rachel were so friendly, going out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. It’s a short walk into Ambleside, and some fantastic hikes start right from the B&B. We couldn’t have asked for a better visit. We’ll recommend it and hope to stay again.

The rooms are huge, and breakfast was really tasty, with lots of locally sourced produce. Foxghyll is our favourite place for a short break, set in beautiful surroundings about a 10 minute walk from Ambleside. Paul and Rachel are lovely hosts. I’d highly recommend this gorgeous property as the best B&B in Ambleside.
