The games room was a big hit with everyone, and the Christmas tree was a lovely touch that made the house feel extra special. We had plenty of room to relax together in the comfortable lounge, and really liked the sofas and wall art. For our large group, the dining table fit everyone easily, and the kitchen was clean, spacious and stocked with everything we needed. The house was spotless when we arrived. WiFi was fast and reliable, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms had all we needed. It’s a short walk to local amenities. We’d happily stay again and recommend it to other large groups.

The house worked so well for our large group of friends and children, and included parking, which was a huge bonus. It had recently changed from a B and B to a holiday let when we stayed at Norwood House over New Year 2025. The dining room’s extra large table made meals easy, and there was plenty of space elsewhere to spend time together. The kids especially loved the downstairs games room. Blackout blinds were in every bedroom, and the beds were so comfortable that we all slept well. Norwood House is right in the heart of Ambleside, with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. It’s also well equipped for cooking for a group, with lots of utensils, tableware and glasses. We used it as a base for Ambleside, Windermere and further afield. Some of us enjoyed walks that start right from the house, while others popped out to browse shops or get a drink or something to eat. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Norwood House is spotlessly clean, and every room has an ensuite. The living room has a huge TV and so many sofas that you could fit several cats in there and still have seats for everyone to watch. There’s loads of fridge space, crockery and glassware, plus fast WiFi and a basement games room. We stayed with friends over New Year, and the Christmas tree the owners had put up was a lovely touch. The house is right in the heart of Ambleside, so you feel part of the village, and there are plenty of parking spaces a short walk away. From past stays, I know how hard it is to find a holiday let with as many bedrooms as Norwood House. Places with lots of rooms often fall short on dining or living room seating, but here the colossal dining table and generous sofas both have everyone covered. We had a fab time, highly recommend.

Wendy, one of the owners, chatted with all the guests over breakfast. She clearly knows the Lake District well and could guide people in ways that enhanced their visits. Both owners were very welcoming and provided lots of useful information for guests. Booking a room at Norwood house was easy. Mine was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the WiFi was very good. The breakfast menu suited me well.

Wendy made us feel very welcome and was so hospitable. We had a wonderful stay at Norwood House, with an incredibly good breakfast and a really comfortable room. My partner and I will definitely visit again.
