Views all around, and the farmhouse sits nicely between Ambleside and Hawkshead. It’s roomy, warm and cosy, with the log store handy for chilly nights and days in the colder season. You’re far enough from modern life’s hustle and bustle for a peaceful break, but still only a short walk or drive from places to visit and supplies. It’s a traditional Lakes farmhouse, and thoroughly recommended.

Waking up to the garden and mountains in view is such a calming start to the day. The place has amazing views on every side, and the kitchen is well equipped. Bring your main shopping with you, though. If you need something, there’s a shop at the caravan park uphill, then left, about a 10-15 minute walk from old farm.

Very old cottage with uneven floors, especially in the upstairs bathroom. It’s a quirky place and might not suit everyone, but we loved it. Quiet and well located, and we’d stay again.
