Muthu Royal Hotel

The room was comfortable and spacious, though the decor felt dated. It seemed very quiet, and we only used the room and bar, so I can't comment on the food. At check-in, we were told the hotel had only been open three days. The manager was cheerful and willing to help as they worked through teething problems. The beers were warm, and there wasn't an ice machine yet.

The place feels abandoned, and management and staff don't seem to care about the basic service they're meant to provide. I travel around Scotland as a guide and have to return here for work, but I'd definitely avoid it otherwise. This "hotel" is a disgrace. The bed sheets were dirty, the property was deteriorating, and the electrical boards in the bedrooms, probably from the 60s, buzzed all night. The poor-quality dinner is now served as a buffet because the staff ran away. When I asked why the Wi-Fi wasn't working, reception told me that if I wasn't happy, I could email the company, MGM Muthu. Just avoid it.

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. The small staff team was overwhelmed by the number of people, and everything felt chaotic, with no organisation or management leadership. I've stayed with Highland Heritage many times before and always enjoyed it, but I won't be going again.

The accommodation itself was fine, but I arrived after 8 pm and the adjoining restaurant was closed. The bar only served drinks, and the only snack I could find was the vending machine's last packet of crisps. £10 for breakfast seems a bit steep.
