The walled garden has seating by the river Rothay, and there’s a private path through the grounds to the bridge leading to Rydal Water. Rydal Lodge is also well placed for lovely walks and attractions. I came by public transport, though there is parking on site. Ian was a welcoming, attentive host and even offered me a suite for my two-night stay instead of the double room I’d booked. It was beautifully presented with garden views, and the hospitality tray was well stocked, including lovely daffodil mugs. Breakfast both mornings was excellent. I had cereal and a veggie full English, and Ian, who is both chef and host, cooked a treat. Highly recommended if you want a personal touch for a short or longer stay.

Our room looked out over the river, and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. We spent a few days with Iain at Rydal Lodge, a beautiful Grade 2 listed building. Breakfast was freshly cooked, the walks were fab, and there’s a regular bus to Grasmere. Rydal water was so peaceful. Dogs are welcome too.

A great place to base yourself for getting around locally, with plenty of parking round the back. The room was clean and nicely presented, and everyone was welcoming and knew the area well. Breakfast was top notch, served at the time you prefer and made to your liking. The scrambled eggs were excellent. Such a cute place, I’d absolutely visit again. Thank you!

I stayed with two friends in a triple room, and the whole visit was fantastic. Iain was wonderful and made a fantastic breakfast that was accommodating too. The beds were comfortable and the amenities lovely. It’s about a 20-minute walk from rural cave and close to everything else you’d want. The location was great, and I’d 100% stay again!

The host was incredibly warm, friendly and wholesome. A lovely property, perfectly placed right on Rydall water in the heart of the Lake District.
