We stopped for breakfast while walking in the area with our dog, and had such a good experience that we’re planning to book an overnight stay next time we’re nearby. The interior was beautiful, and we sat by the fire. Breakfast was excellent and great value, and the staff made us feel very welcome and couldn’t have been more helpful. We’ll definitely return soon.

The pub was lively, and the staff were lovely. We had a good stay overall, though this is a busy place, so don’t expect a quiet night. Our room was above the bar, and we could hear people’s conversations as if they were in the room with us. Parking was chaotic when we arrived early Friday evening during a very busy spell, but there’s a large village car park a few minutes away if you can’t find a space. We enjoyed one evening meal, then came back for another with friends. We all ordered steak sandwiches that were meant to come on ciabatta, but arrived on brioche instead. The sweetness really let them down. Breakfast was disappointing on the first morning because there were no beans or black pudding, but the second breakfast was great, with good quality ingredients.

The team were welcoming and friendly, and nothing seemed too much trouble. We had excellent food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a cosy, relaxed country inn in a beautiful spot at the foot of Pendle Hill. I’d recommend it without hesitation.

I spent most of the day here while my car was being serviced and felt very comfortable as a woman on my own. After a wonderfully warm welcome, the staff found me a table in front of a roaring fire. They were attentive without hovering, and I enjoyed several coffees and teas through the morning. The area is lovely too, and people who came in struck up conversations with me. I started with scrambled eggs on toast topped with smoked salmon and a lovely latte. Friends joined me for lunch, and we had a great time. My sweet chilli beef salad was beautiful and a generous portion, and my friends enjoyed their meals too. The service remained wonderful. I didn’t stay overnight, but I wouldn’t hesitate to. Another woman travelling alone told me she regularly stays here for business and wouldn’t choose anywhere else. It was clear the staff knew her well. I left feeling relaxed and thoroughly pampered, and will definitely visit again. Thanks to everyone at The Barley Mow for making me feel so welcome.

After a scenic family walk up pendle hill, we stopped at The Barley Mow pub. It had a lively atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. My gourmet steak sandwich was amazing. Such a beautiful pub, I couldn’t recommend it more!
