The Lakes B and B

The location was ideal, down a quiet road but just moments from the main amenities, bus stop, pubs and scenic walking routes. Our room had a lovely view of a church spire. Claire and Eugene were kind, patient hosts who clearly knew the area well. They took time to suggest walking routes and gave us maps. On our first day we ended up in the wrong part of town, and Eugene helped us find the right spot without any fuss. We had a wonderful first trip to the Lake District and loved our three-night stay at this gem of a B&B. I’d nearly booked a hotel outside town, but the positive reviews drew me here, and I’m glad we chose it. The room was spotless, the beds very comfortable, and it had all the little things we needed, including a hairdryer and first aid kit. The plasters came in handy when I got a blister. There was plenty of tea, fresh milk we could top up, a great coffee machine, and a small tin of toffees we soon polished off. We looked forward to coming back each day. We were greeted with decorations, a card and homemade muffins for my mum’s birthday, and they were delicious. Breakfast had lots of choice and generous portions. We picked our items the night before, which I think is a good way to avoid waste. It was thoughtfully prepared with quality ingredients and wasn’t greasy at all, unlike how a full English can sometimes be. My only suggestion would be to have a jug of water in the dining room for guests to help themselves to. We had a wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

We’re on our way home after a fabulous stay at this little gem. Claire and Eugene made us feel so welcome, and our spotless room had lovely finishing touches. Breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked to order. It’s ideally placed for exploring Ambleside on foot. We’ll definitely be back.

Eugene and Clare were fun, informative hosts who helped us with who to book with and where to go. Their home was very comfortable, the location was brilliant, and parking was simple. They made everything easy and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great too. We’d thoroughly recommend staying with them, and thank you, Eugene and Clare.

We came back from a wonderful weekend with friends feeling happy and content. Clare and Eugene welcomed us with huge smiles and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Our room was quiet, warm and cosy, with everything we needed and the comfiest bed! Breakfast was amazing, with plenty of choice, and the location was perfect, just a minute or two on foot from the main shops and bars. We’d highly recommend this lovely B&B and will definitely return. Clare and Eugene are such lovely hosts, thank you! 😊 x
