A scenic spot with nice accommodation, away from the tourist bustle. Just bear in mind there’s a steep climb on the walk back from Ambleside.

The owners were lovely, friendly but happy to leave us to enjoy our stay. The place was beautifully decorated, spacious and luxurious, with so many thoughtful touches. We felt at home as soon as we walked in and joked that we could easily live here. We stayed for three nights in mid-September 2020. The accommodation is beautiful and the setting quiet and lovely. It was just perfect, and I’d definitely stay again when visiting Ambleside.

We woke up to snow, which made everything feel lovely and Christmassy. The host was lovely, and the accommodation was fantastic in a picture-perfect setting. I’m not usually keen on continental breakfasts, but this one was lovely, with fresh fruit, eggs from their chickens, fresh orange and plenty of cereals. It’s a short walk to the little village. We’ll definitely come back.

The hosts provide as much or as little as you need, and the breakfast was perfect. It’s quiet and private, with amazing surroundings, yet only a 10-minute walk from Ambleside. Everything had such careful attention to detail, and the luxury was beyond anything we’ve experienced. Fabulous from the start of our stay to the end. I can’t praise Willowbank highly enough.

The location was great and everything was spotlessly clean. My only issue was that the bed felt too soft for me.
