The Crown

The place was very dark, and my 86-year-old mum fell flat on her face while going up a step. I told the staff, but nobody came to help or even ask if she was okay. The food was expensive for tiny portions, the bar was too cramped for guests, and the bar staff acted too cool for school. My parents were lucky to be skinny, because the toilet in their room was squeezed between the wall and sink. The room cost £180 and was only smallish, and the hall carpet was covered in stains. They’d already received this feedback and ignored me, so here I am posting it publicly.

We’d already reached Heathrow and were flying home to Australia when the team contacted us to say I’d left clothes behind. They packed them up and mailed them to Australia, and they arrived today. Brilliant service, thank you! My wife and I had a wonderful recent stay at the Crown Inn Amersham. It’s a charming old-world inn in beautiful old Town Amersham, and the staff and service were outstanding.

The setting outside was lovely, a great place to sit and relax, and the staff were welcoming and really nice. But the food let the visit down. My smashed burger didn’t really qualify as one; it was more like a standard burger, and the meal felt average for a place with such a nice atmosphere. Good for the vibe and service, but the food could be better.

The staff were excellent. I met three others for dinner, and although the evening menu had variety, I would have liked a few more choices.
