Michelle, her husband, and the whole team made us feel so welcome for our wedding reception on Valentine’s Day 2026. I stayed Friday to Sunday and used two rooms. The first was cozy with the usual facilities, while the honeymoon suite had a four-poster bed that was pretty wobbly, especially during marital activities. The hotel could use some care and attention, and the staff are upfront about that. It’s close to Stonehenge, with a cheap car park directly opposite.

The garden is lovely and easy to get around, and the building has some nice details. We enjoyed breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom badly needs updating, though, and the room windows were difficult to open freely. We stayed one night, and it’s a dog-friendly place. The surrounding area has plenty of history and is well worth visiting.

The downstairs looks all right, but the rooms were filthy, especially the bathroom. The hotel is being sold, and it felt like nobody cared anymore. I’d tell anyone considering a stay to give it a miss. We regretted booking here.

The foyer is charming, and the service was friendly, but the room smelled odd and had dust everywhere. Their idea of maintenance made me laugh. A towel on the shower curtain rail brought part of the ceiling down, and every morning I woke to what I assume was the boiler roaring. £75 a night felt way too much for this. £35 would have seemed fairer. Amesbury is very quiet if that’s what you want, though in hindsight I’d have picked Salisbury. Look elsewhere.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel is in a great spot. Service was great too. I’d recommend breakfast.
