The food was terrific, both at breakfast and dinner, with good quality cooking done just right. The staff were very friendly, and they also sell real ale, which is great. Our room and en-suite were smart and very clean, with everything we needed. This place is easily three stars or more, not two. I’d thoroughly recommend it.

We were happy with the food enough to book dinner again for our second night. The evening meal was hot, tasty and home-cooked, and breakfast was lovely too. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel felt welcoming and homely, especially with those sea views from the dining areas. Our Groupon booking was for a standard room, so we hadn’t expected a sea view. The limited view we got was a nice bonus. The bedroom was clean, warm and comfortable, though dated, which is why I’ve given four stars. Refurbishments are underway, and the en-suite has already been updated to a very good standard. We had a lovely two-night stay and plan to return. We’ve recommended it to friends. Thank you.

The sea was so relaxing to watch for a day, even though the weather let us down. We’ll have to come back to see what we missed. We used a Groupon voucher for a much-needed break, and from arrival to departure the staff couldn’t do enough. They carried our bags to the room, then we had drinks in the bar with that amazing view before dinner. The food was very good, and my husband gave the lamb Henry a big thumbs-up. Portions were generous. Breakfast set us up well for the day, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom had everything we needed. Thanks to everyone.

It’s an old hotel, but clean and tidy, with plenty of places to sit downstairs. The location is fantastic and very quiet, right on the coastal walk. I’d love to return in summer. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly and always around. The bar had a welcoming feel, and the food seemed clearly homemade from scratch with locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast offered hot plates or cereal.

The room was spotless and had great views, and the food was fantastic, with quick service, lots of choice and generous portions. We arrived with a baby, and since there was no lift to our room, the man at reception immediately helped carry the pram up to the top floor. Staff and guests made us feel welcome from the start, and the place had such a nice atmosphere. Great stay all round, we’ll definitely be back.
