The whiskey, gin and rum cabinet in the lovely common room was a nice touch. You can help yourself and note down what you had to pay at breakfast, though the prices felt a bit high, probably like much of Scotland compared with Dutch prices. We stayed one night at this lovely B&B on our trip through beautiful Scotland. The house sits on the edge of idyllic Anstruther, with gorgeous countryside views. Mark and Jennifer gave us a very warm welcome. The beautifully decorated house was clean throughout, and our room had a large bed and a separate bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, very well done and offered lots of choice. It was a great start to our holiday road trip through Scotland.

The owners were very friendly, and breakfast was amazing. It's a lovely B&B in a large Victorian house, and a perfect base for exploring the East Neuk of Fife.

We were surprised and shocked to find safari photo books showing dead animals, possibly killed by our South African hosts. The breakfast was nice, but my wife was asked twice to move her seat forward so other guests could reach things behind her. They could easily have moved us to another table or rearranged the tables, and we felt this was quite rude. We were also told we couldn't take scones out of the dining room, even though we'd paid for breakfast, because it would be against the law. The hosts were reasonably friendly, but this wasn't a great stay, or as great as they seemed to want guests to think. When people came into the dining room, they told everyone, "the beds were great weren't they". The house was nice, and the honesty bar was nice too, though a bit overpriced. But the attic room felt expensive for what it was, especially when you have to carry a heavy suitcase up there. The view is nice if you're tall enough, but if you're over 6ft you might bump your head on the ceiling getting into bed.

We were lucky enough to stay in the unique Captain's cabin at the top of the house, looking over the harbor. It was paneled and trimmed in brass like a ship's cabin, where the original owner, a sea captain, would watch for his ships coming in. The accommodations were wonderful, and the breakfast was delicious, with bespoke dining settings. The moment you meet Jennie and Mark, you feel as though you've been friends for ages. They take every chance to chat and make you feel at home, and no detail has been missed. Make sure you spend some quiet time in their lovely Back Garden. I attached a bird's-eye view, though it doesn't show all the loving detail in this special place. Whenever we're near this part of Scotland, we'll make it our home base.
