Just got back from a great family stay. The view of the loch and mountains is pretty special, especially from the hot tub. It's great for a large group, with a dining area where everyone can eat together. The kitchen has loads of pots and pans and everything else you need to cook. Can't fault the place.

The Arrochar Alps are a striking group of very steep, rocky mountains around the head of Loch Long and the west side of Ben Lomond. The famous Cobbler stands out among them, with an outline as distinctive and remarkable as any mountain in the country. These peaks are popular for good reason. As you head north towards Tarbet, Loch Lomond narrows and the mountains close in, becoming more imposing. It feels like the start of the Highlands.

The owners are fantastic, and there's plenty of space and things to do for a big family. The service is first class, and this perfect place has become our favourite holiday destination two years running. We've already booked for next year.

There's a lovely 2.2-mile walk into the forest that you can access from here, and the view of Loch Long is great. Parking costs £1 per hour, up to six.
