The grounds were beautifully kept, and we enjoyed walking around the quaint village of Amberley before we left. Our daughter gave us this stay at Amberley Castle as a birthday treat for her dad, and it turned out to be a treat for us both. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We appreciated having fresh milk brought to the room by room service, and it arrived very quickly after we ordered it. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and furnished in keeping with the castle. Dinner was a wonderful five-course tasting menu, beautifully presented and delicious. Breakfast also had a very good range of well-prepared food. My husband said the black pudding was the best he’d ever tasted. Thanks to everyone at Amberley Castle for making the visit so memorable.

The only thing I’d change is staying for longer. Our room, Amberley, was spacious but still cosy, with a lovely open fire. The staff made us feel so welcome, almost like part of the family, and the whole stay in this beautiful castle was wonderful.

It was our second visit to the castle, and another lovely one. We enjoyed the tasting menu with the wine flight, served by friendly, efficient staff. A large function meant we couldn’t dine in the big hall, but the smaller room was nice too. The room was perfect, with soft, fluffy towels and toiletries.

The afternoon tea is a must. We also had a great stay for my wife’s birthday, making use of the Celebration Package. Flowers, chocolates, champagne, and a welcome card for her made it feel special, especially that personal note. Luke and Ivan at reception were helpful, professional, and full of good advice. Juan and Diana in the restaurant gave excellent service. The setting is wonderful for getting away from the bustle of modern life, and the rooms thoughtfully mix old and modern touches.

The restaurant serves high-quality food, and the grounds are a lovely place to relax. We also had fun on the putting course, though it could do with some updating. The castle itself has real charm and a sense of history, while the rooms are luxurious and make for a great stay.
