A short, relaxing break in a lovely, peaceful spot.

We got the quiet week we wanted at Orchard Cottage, with time for dog walks and a bit of sightseeing. It sleeps four, with a double bed and bunk beds, and we got the log fire going after figuring out how to light it. There’s electric central heating as well. The farm has horses and a resident peacock. We packed a cool box, planned our days, and went exploring around places like Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton and Castleton. Do a bit of research and there’s plenty for children to do too.
The owner made us feel welcome and talked us through what we needed for a comfortable stay. We had two adjoining cottages for New Year with family and friends. Both were clean and cosy, with thoughtful touches including a card and Prosecco. There’s a small garden at the back that worked well for the dog, and the local pub, just a few minutes' walk away, served lovely food with friendly service. A good base for seeing Derbyshire's attractions. We'd come back.
We had some lovely walks here despite two storms during our visit. The hosts were very welcoming, and we had a fantastic stay. I'd definitely recommend it.
Lois runs a cottage in a super location, and it has everything you need. There are too many steps for it to be a good fit for older people with walking difficulties.
