The pub has a lovely feel, the staff are friendly, and the whole place had a great vibe. The roast for two was incredible: porchetta, lamb rump, pigs in blankets, sirloin of beef, roast potatoes and carrots, brilliant gravy, and the most flavoursome stuffing balls I’ve ever had. I usually think a roast out can’t beat one made at home, but this one was different. Can’t recommend it enough.

Our team had a wonderful evening at the Christmas party. On December 4th, we used the private event room above the pub, which was decorated and set up exactly as promised and planned. The team looked after us all night with smiles and plenty of laughs, nothing was too much trouble. A big shout-out to the Chef and his team for the delicious dinner and generous portions.

The meal, wine and company were all good, but the football on Sky made dinner miserable. We booked a table for three at 7:30 on a Tuesday and didn’t leave until 10. The Premier League match was on loudly all evening, at a volume where we couldn’t hold a conversation. It seemed like they turned it up for the regulars, who clearly dominate the pub. I know it’s a pub, not a restaurant, but I wish someone had mentioned the huge TV when I booked by phone a week earlier. Disappointing!

Dinner was fantastic. I had the pie of the night and my fiancée chose the sea bass, and both were exceptional. Highly recommend!

Deena, our waitress, was so friendly and kept coming to chat with us. Billy the kids was enthusiastic and friendly too, and we love him dearly. The whole pub gave us a lovely meal and atmosphere, thank you. It was a romantic date night with my lovely boyfriend, though the place was busy with Sandown racecourse shenanigans. We were taken upstairs to the restaurant, where we had the private dining area to ourselves. The ribeye and fillet steaks were absolutely amazing, melt in your mouth. We’ll be back.
