For my first UK trip, staying at a B&B was the part that felt most unfamiliar, but the hospitality here was so good. The rooms were cosy, clean and comfortable, and breakfast was an absolute banger. I was working in Derby and going to a wedding at Kirk Langley, so this quiet little town made a perfect base for exploring the area. There's some really cool stuff nearby that you shouldn't miss. Things quieten down around 10pm, when the town pretty much rolls up the streets. That's part of its quiet, quaint charm, so just go with it and enjoy your stay.

They went above and beyond to help us out, even offering breakfast 20 minutes earlier than usual and finding us a larger room with a cot for our one-year-old. The host was lovely and friendly, and the full English breakfast was good. We stayed for an Alton Towers trip, which is 20 minutes away. Thanks so much!

The rooms were warm and comfortable, and breakfast was hearty. The place is right on the main road, but there's a hidden car park at the back. To reach it, you have to drive through the covered Sainsburys entrance.

We needed a quick stay in central Ashbourne and this worked well, with bars and restaurants only a few minutes' walk away and Sainsburys next door. We called at the very last minute and were glad they could fit us in. Our small ground floor room had what we needed, including a good hot shower. Breakfast was included, though we had to leave too early to try it. The dining room has lots of character.
